Credit card fraud exposed

Its confidential information – about your money. But Channel 4 has discovered the personal details of hundreds of thousands of Britons are being sold illegally in India – on a vast scale.

An investigation for the Dispatches programme has revealed just how easy it is to buy secret financial information for as little as £8 – from your address and bank account number to the security code on a debit card.

40% of the world’s largest companies now have call centres in India – and tonight there are calls for an urgent parliamentary inquiry into the out-sourcing of financial information.

Sue Turton went undercover in India for the investigation and met a ‘middleman’ apparently happy to sell data in breach of data protection
